A little about Johnny Schembri

Johnny Schembri studied Fashion Design at St. George TAFE. During this time, Johnny completed in numerous Fashion Design competitions, catching the eye of fashion industry insiders and influencers alike.

2008 saw Johnny crowned the official designer for the ilustrious 2008 Golden Slipper Carnival, his duties as the 'Official Fashion Designer' included dressing all 2008 Ambassadors,

Jewellery Designer Samantha Wills, Model Ali Mutch and Sports Star Lauren Eagle for all racing events and photo shoots. After working in Public Relations and Designing for one of Sydney's High Street labels,

Johnny took the plunge and decided to launch by johnny the label at the young designer section of Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival in 2009.

The first capsule collection of 5 pieces was a hit, which provided that Johnny was going to make his mark on Designer Clothing in Australia.

The Summer of 2009 Johnny continued to sell his collection at the Paddington Fringe Bar Markets in Sydney. This set the scene for the launch of the by johnny online store, enabling him to sell his designer fashion to girls all over Australia.

May of 2010 saw the official launch of by johnny at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, Johnny showcased his Summer 2010 Collection in the New Generation Section of RAFW, demonstrating to the Australian Fashion Industry

who Johnny Schembri was and what he was all about. November of 2010 Johnny won the Peroni Harpers Bazaar Younger Designer of the Year Award. The judging panel consisted of international fashion designer;

Antonio Berardi along with Chief Editor of Harpers Bazaar, Edwina Mcann. The prize - a return trip to Milan to spend time with Antonio in his design studio.

2011 bought Johnny his next biggest accomplishment, becoming a contestant on Season 3 of Project Runway Australia, due to air in July 2011 on Arena. Johnny continues to sell his designer clothing online and also in selected boutiques around Australia
